We came, we saw, we conquered.
After a year of hard work and ruthless fundraising, we raised $63,335.78 for the kids at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital. Last night was one of the best nights of my college career and I couldn’t be happier to have dedicated so much of my time to this amazing organization.
600 students piled into Brehm Arena at 7pm and the opening ceremony began. The kids were in awe of the Under The Sea decor and giant arena to play in. I was thrilled to see the smiles on everyone’s faces as they played Four Square with Brian and let GiGi paint their entire faces. Believe it or not, there were still kids playing at MIDNIGHT. (Bless their parents)
After the kids left we had an awesome performances by BOSS Dance Company and The Band Concord followed by instructions on how to do the Morale Dance our awesome chairmen came up with. Entertainment later in the evening consisted of VOLT Acapella Group, a late night rave with DJ Mike Gruden (and 300 glowsticks), a magic show from Ben Young, acoustic performance by Ben Shuster, early morning yoga with Megan and we got warmed back up with Zumba taught by Anna.
We fundraise year-long, but we also had plenty of opportunities to raise money during the event itself. We hosted a silent auction that raised $1,330, a tutu-making station, and a Netflix movie hour. We also encouraged all attendees to post their fundraising links online to receive donations from family and friends.
Of course we can’t forget about food. We had 3 meals catered to us throughout the night from businesses like Aramark, Chuy’s, Moe’s, Brenz Pizza, Papa John’s, Menchie’s, Insomnia Cookies, Krispy Kreme, Best Bagels and MORE!
Overall, it was the perfect event and I can’t wait to see what next year’s executive committee can do.
